Matchday 6 Predictions/Preview

Last round of matchdays coming up here and looks like some teams are looking to get in, there are 14 teams fighting for a spot for the next round, the match to watch this round, Galatasaray v Juventus, Galatasaray needs a win and I would rather see Juventus win because I think they have a squad that can cause trouble and potentialy go far in the tournament. As a Man U fan I am really interested to watch the game v Shaktar at home, losing 2 home games is unacceptable in my books, I am curious to see what would happend if he loses 3, even though Man U is already through, I think a win is need to reassure fans that Man U is competitive. I guess you can say any of Group F matches would be one to watch as well. Here are my predicitons and projected points

Predictions

Man U v Shaktar - 3-0 for Man U

Real Sociedad v Leverkusen - 2-1 for Sociedad

Galatasaray v Juventus - 2-1 for Galatrasaray

Matchday 5 Results/Standings

Well interesting matchday 5, Barca loses to AJAX! of all teams, Basel again beats Chelsea and the drama continues on, I wasnt surprised that Basel won but I would of thought Chelsea would of won. Even though Barca had some injuries I still dont think they should of lost the game, they got a good enough bench that the should of won in my opinon. I am sure Barca will bounce back and rape some teams for awhile to remind people how good they still are. Here are the standings though.

1. Curt - 54

2. Jeremy - 37

3. Mat - 26

4. Adam - 25

Matchday 5 Predictions/Preview

Matchday 5 coming up some teams have clinched the next stage but for some teams its do or die now. Dortmund needs a win this matchday to have some sort of life line.  Which brings me the match to watch this round is Dortmund v Napoli, the winner of the match will most likely move on to the next stage.  Another good match to keep your eye on is my Man U v Leverkusen, if Leverkusen wins and Shaktar wins, it will open this group wide open, but I think Man U will pull out a win or a draw. Upsets that could happend in this matchday is Zenit v Atletico, on a scale player v player, Atletico is way better but they are playing in Russia, which makes Zenit the favourite according to Vegas, so watch out for that game, another match to watch out is Basel v Chelsea, Chelsea are going to Basel but I dont think Basel will beat Chelsea but who knows. Heres the predictions and projected points.

Basel v Chelsea - 1-0 for Chelsea

Steaua v Schalke - 1 -0 for Schalke

Arsenal v Marseille - 2-0 for Arsenal

Dortmund v Napoli - 2-1 for Dortmund

Zenit v Atletico - 1-1

Porto v Vienna - 2-0 for Porto

Ajax v Barca - 3-1 for Barca

Celtic v AC Milan - 2-1 for Milan

Leverkusen v Man U - 1-0 for Man U

Shakhtar v Sociedad - 3-0 for Shakhtar

Juventus v Copenhagen - 2-0 for Juventus

Real Madrid v Galatasaray - 2-0 for Real Madrid

Anderlecht v Benfica - 2-1 for Benfica

PSG v Olympiakos - 3-2 for PSG

CSKA v Bayern Munich - 1-0 for Bayern

Man City v Plzen - 4-0 for Man City

Matchday 3 Standings

What a Matchday 3, so far the best round of matches so far, some interesting results but the clear cut favourite to win it by far has to be Bayern Munich, they just man handled City in that matchday 2. Here are the standings so far

1. Curt - 34

2. Jeremy - 24

3. Mat - 17

4. Travis- 13

5. Adam - 13

6. Sid and Knox - 12

7. Mike - 11

8. Robbie - 9

Well it looks like Curt is the front runner in this, looks like the only way to really stop/slow him down is hope some of his teams gets draws and loses

Matchday 3 Predictions

Well matchday 3 is upon us and most teams will try to get 9 points so they can have some kinda of cushion heading into the final 3 games of round robin play. Look for Arsenal, PSG, Bayern Munich, Atletico, and Real Madrid to get wins so they can look good to qualify for the next round. Schalke does have 6 points but there main striker Huntelaar is reported to be injured and wont be playing aganist Chelsea, and it is Murinho they are playing so a draw would be acceptable for them (Schalke) Usually 10 points will advance you to the next stage but Chelsea had 10 points last year and didnt advance, but the key number is 10, or 11 points will advance you to the next round. Several good games to watch on Tuesday we have  AC Milan vs Barca, and Arsenal v Dortmund. The following day Real Madrid v Juventus, another interesting match could be Man City v CSKA in Moscow, both teams are sitting at 3 points and both teams would like the 3 points considering they both still play Munich again. Looking at the machups, I cant really see any upsets, on
www. Intertops.com, they have Man City at 1.75 aganist CSKA, playing in Russia during fall/winter seasons is never easy, this is the only matchup I could see an upset. I am not sure why Intertops has Shaktar as the underdog aganist Leverkusen, no reports of injuries on Shaktar from what I found but I consider them to be beat Leverkusen,  Barca and Milan could draw, but I dont think that will happend.

Here are the predictions though,

Celtic vs Ajax - 2-1 for Celtic

AC Milan vs Barca - 2-0 for Barca

Porto vs Zenit - 2-1 for Porto

Austria Vienna vs Atletico - 3-1 for Atletico

Marseille vs Napoli - 1-0 for Napoli

Arsenal vs Dortmund - 2-1 for Arsenal

Schalke vs Chelsea - 2-1 for Chelsea

Steaua vs Basel - 1-0 for Basel

CSKA vs Man City - 1-1

Bayern Munich vs Plzen - 4-0 for Bayern

Benfica vs Olympiakos - 2-0 for Benfica

Anderlecht vs PSG - 3-0 for PSG

Real Madrid vs Juventus - 2-1 for Real Madrid

Galatasaray vs Cophenhagen - 2-0 for Galatasaray

Leverkusen vs Shaktar - 2-1 for Shaktar

Man United vs Real Sociedad - 3-0 for Man United

Projected Points

Adam - 3

Curt - 12

Jeremy - 6

Mat - 3

Mike - 1

Robbie - 3

Ryan - 3

Travis - 6

Sid and Knox - 9

Standings after Matchday 2

Well some of my Predictions were correct, I was a little dissapointed with the Bayern v Man City game but it did add a twist at the end when Boatang got a red card after taking out Yaya Toure, I thought the Juventus game was one the best game or the Celtic vs Barca was interesting watching since Messi wasnt playing, but here are the standings so far. Predictions so far correct, 21/32,(wins,draws only) 65%, not bad I say.

1. Curt - 20

2 . Jeremy - 18

3. Mat - 10

4. Travis - 10

5. Adam - 10

6. Sid and Knox - 9

Matchday 2 Predictions

Well its Matchday 2 and some of the managers are feeling some pressure already, Murinho and Moyes seem to be in the hotseat after losing 2 games in a row (I am not including Cup play), look for these two teams to try to get wins, the tough part about is they are both playing away which always isnt easy. for the best/one to watch this week is Man City v Bayern Munich, Man city just recently lost to Villa and will be looking to get a result, at the most I think City should look for a draw in this match. for my upset of the week I am going to go with Basel over Schalke. We got Real Madrid in Turkey, which is known to be a hostile place to play in as well I am looking forward to see the most expensive player (Bale) in the world to play in Champs League. Theres other games I think could be interesting to watch Arsenal v Marseille could be decent but I think Wenger will be playing for draws on away games. I dont really have any upsets happening in here, but there will be one or two forsure, the only ones I could think that could be upsets is Zenit v Atletico, Napoli v Dortmund. (got Dortmund as the favourite)
